The delegation of Bangladesh Jamate Islam made this demand after meeting and exchanging views with the UN delegation on Thursday around 3 pm.
The party says that a tribunal called ‘Crime against Humanity’ should be formed and some laws should be amended if necessary, but justice should be done properly through investigation. Jamaat-e-Islami has requested the UN delegation to cooperate and advise the Bangladesh government.
Jamaat-e-Islami Naib Amir and former MP Dr. Syed Abdullah Md. Taher, Secretary General and former MP Professor Mia Golam Parwar and Central Publicity and Media Department Secretary Matiur Rahman Akand were present at the meeting.
After the meeting Dr. Syed Abdullah Md. Taher told the media, ‘The historical change that started in Bangladesh on August 5, the people of Bangladesh have gained new freedom. At the request of our interim government, the facts findings team of the United Nations Human Rights Commission is visiting Bangladesh at the request of the dictatorial regime during that struggle and mass revolution. They are staying in Bangladesh for several days. They will leave next Saturday. They have met with many people. They also invited Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami in that sequence.
He also said, “Several issues were discussed in today’s meeting. They wanted to know about the various atrocities and murders committed by the previous dictatorial government in this country and on the people. We have provided that information. This dictatorial government was in power from 1972-75. Even then they killed like 30 thousand people. In 2009, promising army officers were killed in the name of the BDR rebellion in Pilkhana. This dictatorial government was also involved there. Jamaat Naib Amir said, “The main team of the United Nations Human Rights Commission will come next month.” Will exchange opinions with the government on technical matters, and start investigation. They will support the Bangladesh government. We have requested that an investigation and trial be initiated immediately.
